Pest control · Software & fractional COO

I run the operations.
Then I build the fix.

I'm Tyler Hermann, an operator and the COO of a multi-location pest control company. I build the software my own team runs on, and I help other owners run a tighter operation as a fractional COO.

Built for problems I had to solve myself

Each tool started as something going wrong at the pest control company where I'm COO, and was built to fix it there. The screens below use sample data so you can see what each one does.

Command

Daily operations board

Every morning, someone has to figure out what's broken across every office before the day starts.

Command reads your CRM overnight, checks it for the things that slip through the cracks, and hands each person their own short list before the first coffee. Managers see every office on one board.

  • A short list for every person, every morning
  • One board for every office
  • Daily scorecards with no spreadsheet behind them

Production payroll

Technician pay takes hours to work out every pay period.

Pulls each technician's completed work from the CRM and calculates production pay on your pay plan, with totals ready for payroll. Nobody rebuilds the spreadsheet every two weeks.

Time & GPS check

Clock time and truck time don't always match, and nobody has time to check.

Lines up each technician's clock-in and clock-out against when their truck actually started and parked. Real gaps land on the next morning's list, before they turn into a habit.

Call quality grading

Service calls either never get reviewed, or reviewing them eats a manager's whole day.

Transcribes every customer service call and scores it against your own checklist. Calls that need coaching go to a manager with the missed step marked. It replaced an outside call-analytics subscription that cost about $1,200 a month.

CRM add-ons

Your CRM is missing the shortcuts your office keeps wishing it had.

Small add-ons that appear right on the CRM screens your office already uses: an account summary at a glance and one-click actions for the things they do by hand all day.

Consulting · Fractional COO

An experienced operator, when you need one

Not every problem needs software. Sometimes you need someone who has run the operation to sit with your team, find what's leaking, and fix it. I've led customer service, managed districts, analyzed fleet and operations data, and sit on an executive team today, so I can step in where the problem is.

Customer service & retention

Call center standards, callbacks and cancellation saves.

Field operations & fleet

Scheduling, missed stops and re-services, and what your trucks and GPS data are telling you.

Technician pay & payroll

Production pay plans that are fair, simple and fast to run.

KPIs & scorecards

The handful of numbers that matter, and a weekly meeting that moves them.

Systems & CRM

Getting FieldRoutes, or whatever you run, to work for the office.

Hiring & training

Standards, onboarding and coaching for office and field teams.

Ways to work together

I keep the number of companies I work with small, so each one gets real attention.

Start here

Operations review

A focused look at how your operation runs today. You walk away with a prioritized list of what to fix first, whether or not we keep working together.

Ongoing

Fractional COO

A set number of hours each month. I join your leadership meetings and own results alongside your team.

One problem

As-needed

One problem, one engagement: a call center reset, a payroll rebuild, a CRM cleanup.

About

Tyler Hermann

  1. Started in the field
Door to door, before moving into operations
  2. District management
  3. Operations analysis
    Including a 500-vehicle fleet
  4. Customer experience
Built a customer experience division from scratch, then led customer service as director
  5. Chief Operating Officer
    Executive team, eight-figure multi-location company

I'm an operator, not a salesperson. I got my start in pest control door to door, then moved into operations: managing districts, analyzing fleet and operations data, and building a customer experience division from scratch. Part of that was at Fox Pest Control, one of the largest companies in the industry.

Today I'm the COO of an eight-figure, multi-location pest control company. I do this work with its support, and every tool on this page started as a problem I had to solve there.

Hermann Fieldworks is how I bring those tools, and that hands-on operating experience, to other pest control companies. I hold an undergraduate degree in human resources and I'm based in Utah.

FAQ

Questions owners ask

You have a full-time job. Does your employer know, and do you have time?

Yes to both. My employer knows and supports it, and I don't work with companies that compete with them in their markets. I keep the number of companies I take on small, and the software already exists, so setting it up for you doesn't start from zero.

Do I have to buy software to work with you?

No. Consulting stands on its own, and so does each tool. Plenty of problems get fixed with a process change and no software at all.

We're not on FieldRoutes. Does that matter?

Everything here was built on FieldRoutes. On another CRM it's a short conversation about what connects, and the add-on approach often works even where a full connection doesn't.

How fast can something be running?

For tools that already exist, the goal is a few weeks from the first call. Consulting can start with the first conversation.

What does it cost?

It depends on what's broken. After a first conversation you get a plain number: a fixed price for setup or a project, and a monthly rate for ongoing tools or fractional COO time.
